Spooky in Love

Park Eun-bin plays Yeo-ri’s isolation as a survival skill instead of a tragic backstory — the gloves, the flat affect, the way she flinches from casual contact before anyone else notices what’s happening. It’s a sharper choice than the premise strictly needs, and it puts Spooky in Love closer in spirit to Oh My Ghost Clients — treating the ability to see the dead as an occupational hazard rather than a spooky gimmick — than to a standard rom-com meet-cute.

Yang Se-jong’s Gang-uk gets the harder job: sell genuine terror of the supernatural without turning the prosecutor into comic relief. He mostly manages it by playing every ghost encounter as a professional setback rather than a horror-movie freakout — the same stubborn competence Bad Prosecutor built its whole case around, minus the cynicism.

One episode in, the real gamble is tonal — jump scares sitting next to rom-com staging, a murder investigation sitting next to a wrist-grab meet-cute. The premiere pulls off the balancing act, though it’s a lot of plates to keep spinning across twelve episodes, especially once the case-of-the-week structure has to compete with the ghost-touch mechanic for screen time.
