Park Kyung-hee built an entire brand out of the idea that her life is worth aspiring to, which is exactly why the show keeps its camera on her phone as much as her face — the disaster has to be managed in public as carefully as it’s covered up in private. Kim Hye-soo plays that split without tipping into camp, treating image-maintenance as its own kind of crime-scene cleanup. The genre she’s working in shares more DNA with The World of the Married than with a standard whodunit — infidelity here is the smallest lie in the house, not the biggest one.

The blackmail plot is where the black comedy actually lands, because every character keeps trying to solve a moral problem with a financial one. Ninety-nine million won doesn’t buy anyone’s way out — it just proves the price of silence keeps climbing once you’ve paid it a first time. That’s the same queasy math Mask Girl built its whole back half on, and it works just as well here: a cover-up is never a single decision. It’s a subscription.

Whether the final three episodes stick the landing is still an open question — a show this committed to escalation eventually has to stop escalating and start resolving. What’s already clear is that Kyung-hee’s competence, the thing that built her entire life, is now the same trait digging the hole deeper.
