Ki-ho (Choi Min-sik) has spent 37 years working, and his new job is to sit at a desk. The fashion startup Woo22 hired him through a silver-intern program, and according to the Korea Times the company is mostly after the tax break. CEO Seon-woo (Han So-hee) built the brand from scratch in three years, and she has no idea what to assign a man twice her age. Ki-ho fills the gap himself. He turns up first, leaves last, picks up the jobs nobody owns and gradually becomes someone Seon-woo can lean on while investors push for a more seasoned executive and her marriage cools. This is a remake of the 2015 Hollywood film, and director Kim Do-young has said that where the original focused on mending wounds, his version focuses on Seon-woo’s growth, a woman taking a step forward as an independent person.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take

Worth the watch? Our honest answer, and who it’s aimed at.

🎬 Director Kim Do-young Known for: Kim Do-young directs and co-wrote The Intern with Wang Hye-ji. In interviews around the release he said he wanted his two leads to feel more grounded than the original’s, with flaws and a sense of loneliness, and that he shifted the story’s focus to the CEO’s own growth.
👔 Silver Intern🤝 Old Hand, Young Boss🎬 Korean Remake☕ Feel-Good Office

Casting Choi Min-sik as the quiet new guy at a fashion startup is the film’s best joke, and it works because he plays Ki-ho without any wink. Viewers who liked the underestimated newcomer in Cold Blooded Intern will recognize the setup, only here the aim is warmth rather than revenge. Watching Ki-ho sit idle at an empty desk on day one tells you most of what the film is about.

The Intern (2026) — cinematic still

Han So-hee has the harder job, since a founder who is good at her work and bad at asking for help is easy to play as cold. Reviewers say the pair’s chemistry is what lifts the film, and the Korean setting, with its slang gaps and AI tools, gives the generational jokes some local texture. If you liked how Start-Up treats founders as people under pressure, this covers similar ground in two hours instead of sixteen episodes.

We are holding back a verdict for now. The film’s final stretch is still being confirmed across Korean coverage, and we only publish the story and ending sections once they hold up across several reliable sources. For now, treat this page as the setup, the cast and the case for watching.

👍👍👍 BEST FOR 👍👍👍
👔 Viewers who like workplace stories built on mentorship rather than rivalry🎬 Fans of the 2015 Hollywood film curious how Korea reworks it🍿 Anyone who wants a light, feel-good theatrical outing with two strong leads

⚖️ Final Verdict
What works
•Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee’s rapport, which reviewers single out
•A Korean workplace setting with its own slang, AI and tax-break details
•A No. 1 box-office opening that points to strong word of mouth

What to know first
•Reviewers call the story episodic and predictable
•The director says the focus is Seon-woo’s growth, not mending wounds as in the original
•At 133 minutes it runs a little long for its lightness

Anticipation Pick— A warm, performance-led remake; our full verdict follows with the story and ending breakdown.
