Gold-medal boxer Yoon Dong-ju has a gift for getting into trouble — and a talent for throwing punches at precisely the wrong people. After a string of disciplinary disasters, he’s demoted and reassigned to the Insung Metropolitan Police Agency, where he’s reunited with a group of fellow Olympic medalists who joined the force through a special recruitment program. The department greets them with contempt. The team — a boxer, a wrestler, a judoka, a fencer, and a shooter — are treated as dead weight, a PR stunt in uniform. Then a violent criminal case surfaces, and Dong-ju remembers why he became a cop in the first place.

Together the misfit medalists form a Special Criminal Investigation Unit and begin pulling on a thread that leads somewhere no one expected: to Min Joo-young, a mild-mannered civil servant with an ordinary face and an extraordinary criminal empire. Oh Jung-se plays Joo-young as a man who never needs to raise his voice — which turns out to be the scariest thing of all. As the unit digs deeper into Joo-young’s operation, the investigation becomes personal, the traps get more elaborate, and the team discovers that winning in the real world requires something the Olympics never tested: knowing when the fight has already started before the first punch is thrown.

Good Boy Episode 1 — Olympic Misfits
EP 01
Olympic Misfits
May 31, 2025
Gold-medal boxer Yoon Dong-ju’s latest incident gets him demoted and shipped to the Insung Metropolitan Police Agency — where he discovers a waiting room full of fellow Olympic medalists who signed up for the same special recruitment program. Good Boy Episode 2 — Special Unit
EP 02
Special Unit
June 1, 2025
On team leader Ko Man-sik’s recommendation, a Special Criminal Investigation Unit is officially formed — six world-class athletes under one roof, each arriving with their own agenda. Good Boy Episode 3 — Golden Evidence
EP 03
Golden Evidence
June 7, 2025
Dong-ju is convinced that Min Joo-young was behind a deadly hit-and-run and throws himself into gathering proof. Meanwhile, Joo-young slips away to a private meeting — and the person across the table is not who anyone expected.

Good Boy Episode 4 — Full Strength
EP 04
Full Strength
June 8, 2025
Han-na rejoins and Jong-hyeon officially comes aboard — the unit is finally at full strength. The team splits into groups and launches a broad investigation into Gyeong-il’s death and Joo-young’s background, pursuing leads that pull them in very different directions. Han-na receives a set of case files with a connection to her father that changes everything she thought she knew.

Good Boy Episode 5 — Blown Cover
EP 05
Blown Cover
June 14, 2025
The surveillance operation on Joo-young collapses before they can finish it — and the team is forced to hand him over to the prosecution with less than they needed. Dong-ju ends up in the hospital after a vehicle incident and undergoes a round of examinations that raises more questions than it answers. The rest of the unit continues digging into Joo-young’s ties to the prosecutor’s office and doesn’t like what they’re finding.

Good Boy Episode 6 — The Burner Phone
EP 06
The Burner Phone
June 15, 2025
During a solo field inquiry with Han-na, Dong-ju discovers Joo-young’s secret burner phone — and engineers an impromptu kiss as cover when he feels eyes on them. The chemistry between Dong-ju and Han-na shifts into something neither of them is ready to name. Jong-hyeon, meanwhile, is increasingly distracted by unresolved feelings for his former girlfriend. And under apartment surveillance, “Drug Monster” Kim Yeon-ha begins quietly plotting her exit.

Good Boy Episode 7 — Crisis Mode
EP 07
Crisis Mode
June 21, 2025
A brutal assault on Dong-ju throws the Special Criminal Investigation Unit into its first real crisis — and tests whether Man-sik has what it takes to hold the team together when the pressure is on. The remaining members push forward under a heavy cloud of uncertainty. Joo-young, freshly discharged from the hospital, slips away to an unknown location. The screws are tightening on both sides.

Good Boy Episode 8 — The Container
EP 08
The Container
June 22, 2025
The team uncovers hard evidence of Joo-young’s large-scale drug trafficking operation and goes undercover as a quarantine unit to infiltrate the customs office. Acting on a tip from Drug Monster, they locate the container hiding the drugs — and walk straight into a trap that Joo-young has been building since before they started looking. The episode ends in a place no one saw coming.

Good Boy Episode 9 — No Way Out
EP 09
No Way Out
June 28, 2025
Han-na is kidnapped. Dong-ju and Jong-hyeon race to find her — and instead find themselves caught inside another of Joo-young’s life-or-death traps with no clean exit. A sudden gunshot breaks the standoff. An unexpected sacrifice leaves the team’s fate hanging by a thread, and the episode lands on the kind of cliffhanger that makes you immediately reach for the next one.

Good Boy Episode 10 — Solo Strike
EP 10
Solo Strike
June 29, 2025
The Special Criminal Investigation Unit is formally dissolved. Dong-ju goes rogue — working alone, off-book — and his plan against Joo-young escalates into something far larger than he intended. Joo-young discovers what Dong-ju is doing and launches a fierce counterattack. The kind of episode where the show’s willingness to hurt its own characters is fully on display.

Good Boy Episode 11 — Full Scale
EP 11
Full Scale
July 5, 2025
The disbanded unit pulls back together. For the first time, they see the full, staggering scope of what Joo-young has built — a criminal empire hidden behind the most boring civil servant desk in Insung City. Dong-ju starts a deliberate psychological war: a countdown, delivered publicly, designed to drive Joo-young into making a desperate and visible mistake. It works, but not in the way Dong-ju planned.

Good Boy Episode 12 — Down and Out
EP 12
Down and Out
July 6, 2025
Dong-ju walks into yet another of Joo-young’s carefully constructed traps and pays the heaviest price yet — a serious injury that puts both his life and the mission in jeopardy. The team is left scrambling, and the tide feels like it’s turned for real. This is the episode where the show asks whether a team built on physical superiority can survive being outthought at every turn.

Good Boy Episode 13 — All In
EP 13
All In
July 12, 2025
No retreat left. Dong-ju and the full team commit to a final, all-out offensive against Joo-young’s operation. They charge forward without hesitation and are immediately met with relentless resistance — a series of unexpected obstacles that test the team’s resolve in ways medals never did. The episode is essentially one extended assault sequence, and the show earns every minute of it.

Good Boy Episode 14 — Last Stand
EP 14
Last Stand
July 13, 2025
The decisive confrontation is arriving, and both Dong-ju and Joo-young know it. Two men who have been circling each other for months finally lock into a direct, brutal clash of wills that forces both of them to show exactly what they’re made of. The episode doesn’t flinch from who these two people are — and it makes the finale feel genuinely earned.

Good Boy Episode 15 — City in Chaos
EP 15
City in Chaos
July 19, 2025
The entire Insung Police Force mobilizes for a sweeping full-scale operation to dismantle Joo-young’s cartel. Victory looks close — and then Joo-young executes his most devastating countermove yet, the one he’s been holding back, plunging Insung City into genuine chaos. The penultimate episode is Good Boy at maximum stakes, and it fully earns the finale it’s setting up.

Good Boy Episode 16 — Olympic Avengers
EP 16
Olympic Avengers
July 20, 2025
Dong-ju and the Special Criminal Investigation Team launch their final battle amid the citywide chaos. The climactic physical confrontation between Dong-ju and Joo-young draws on everything Dong-ju has — every defeat, every setback, every loss he wasn’t allowed to grieve until now. Joo-young falls. The disbanded unit is formally reinstated. The team — Han-na, Jong-hyeon, Man-sik, Jae-hong, all of them — are vindicated. The athletes who traded their medals for badges turn out to have known what they were doing all along.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take

Our honest read on why this drama is worth your time — and who it’s for.

🏅 Olympic Underdogs
💥 High-Octane Action
😂 Punchy Comedy
👊 Found-Family Justice
🦹 Quietly Terrifying Villain

Park Bo-gum has always had charm to spare — but Good Boy is the first time he’s been asked to back it with genuine physicality, and he delivers. The boxing choreography doesn’t feel staged; it feels like someone who trained hard and committed to the bit fully. More importantly, he plays Yoon Dong-ju’s stubbornness as something that reads differently in different contexts — endearing when it’s about loyalty, exhausting when it’s about ego — and that complexity is what keeps a character this archetypal interesting across 16 episodes. The real revelation, though, is Oh Jung-se as Min Joo-young: a civil servant so aggressively ordinary that you keep waiting for him to drop the act, and eventually realize the act is the man. It’s the most unsettling villain performance in a JTBC drama since Bloodhounds gave us Chairman Choi, and the contrast between Joo-young’s placid exterior and the devastation he leaves behind is what the whole show orbits.

Good Boy (2025) — cinematic still

The ensemble is where the show earns its fun. Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok could easily have been background texture, but the writing gives each of them enough specificity that the team feels real rather than assembled. The action sequences in episodes 7 through 10 are the best stretch of the show — tightly choreographed, with genuine consequences — and during those episodes Good Boy makes a legitimate case for being one of JTBC’s best action dramas. Kim So-hyun as Han-na is, as always, doing more with what she’s given than the material strictly requires; the romance thread between her and Dong-ju is lightly sketched, but her chemistry with Park Bo-gum is warm enough that you never feel cheated. If you’ve followed either of their careers, watching them share a frame is reason enough to start.

The honest issue is the second half. Episodes 11 through 14 repeat the same structural loop — Dong-ju makes a move, Joo-young springs a trap, the team regroups — one too many times. At 70 minutes per episode, you feel the repetition. The writers clearly love their villain more than they know what to do with him in act three. None of this ruins the show; the cast is too good and the final two episodes recover their footing. But it does mean Good Boy lands closer to the kind of drama you tell people to start rather than something you’d rewatch cover to cover. The thing it gets completely right is the ending: not a tearful farewell, but a reinstatement. Athletes who traded their medals for badges, vindicated — and the show is smart enough to understand that this was never really about the crime. It was about whether these people belonged somewhere. They do.

👍👍👍 BEST FOR 👍👍👍
🎬 Fans of Vincenzo or Flex X Cop who want their crime comedy punchier and their villain scarier
🏆 Anyone who misses the found-family ensemble energy of early 2020s JTBC action dramas
👊 Viewers who can forgive plotting that repeats itself when the cast chemistry and action are this strong

⚖️ Final Verdict
What works
Park Bo-gum’s most physically committed performance — the boxing is genuinely athletic, not choreographed for cameras
Oh Jung-se as Joo-young: weaponized ordinariness, impossible to look away from, impossible to predict
The ensemble team chemistry — six misfits who click immediately and never feel like props for the lead
Action set pieces in episodes 7–10 that rank among the best JTBC has produced in the genre

What to know first
Episodes 11–14 repeat the trap-and-escape loop one time too many — you’ll feel the drag
The romance between Dong-ju and Han-na is lightly drawn — don’t come expecting a slow-burn emotional arc
16 episodes at 70 minutes each is a real commitment — this is not a lean, efficient watch
The show asks you to believe Olympic medalists simultaneously become competent detectives — lean into it or it will bother you

8.4 / 10Watch it — especially for Oh Jung-se’s career-best turn as the most ordinary-looking monster in recent K-drama history.
