Tak Dong Kyung (Park Bo Young) is a hardworking web novel editor surviving on borrowed time — diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma, given three months to live, and betrayed on the same day by a boyfriend she didn’t know was married. On her rooftop that night, drunk and furious at everything, she makes a wish she doesn’t expect to be heard: let the world end. It is heard. Myeol Mang (Seo In Guk) — the embodiment of Doom itself, a being who exists between gods and mortals and whose presence unravels everything around him — appears before her with an offer. A hundred-day contract: she can wish for anything, live however she wants. But everything she loves is at risk of being destroyed.

What begins as a desperate bargain between a dying woman and a supernatural being who has never known attachment becomes something neither of them anticipated. Doom is not supposed to feel anything — but Dong Kyung is the first person who has ever wished for the world to end and meant it as an act of grief rather than malice. Something shifts between them, quietly and then all at once. The 100 days become a countdown to a question the drama refuses to answer easily: can love survive a being whose existence is synonymous with ruin?

He appears before her, intrigued by a wish unlike any he has heard before.

Her colleague Cha Joo Ik and best friend Na Ji Na begin circling each other in ways that hint at something forming. Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 5 — The Deeper Meaning of Doom
EP 05
The Deeper Meaning of Doom
May 24, 2021
Dong Kyung’s initial fear of Myeol Mang begins to shift into genuine curiosity about his nature and solitude. She learns more about what Doom truly is — a being cursed to exist without attachment, unable to love or be loved without causing ruin. The goddess So Nyeon Sin watches from a distance, her cryptic intentions adding divine tension. This episode quietly reframes the whole premise: this isn’t a story about a woman who summoned Doom. It’s a story about what Doom does when someone finally sees him.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 6 — Heart Flutter
EP 06
Heart Flutter
May 24, 2021
Dong Kyung begins enjoying small moments of happiness she had never allowed herself before — and it reads as both hopeful and devastating. Joo Ik takes Ji Na on an unexpected outing and the two share a moment that hints at growing feelings between them. Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 7 — What He Feels
EP 07
What He Feels
May 31, 2021
Myeol Mang begins experiencing unfamiliar sensations — small hints of emotion — when near Dong Kyung, unsettling him deeply given that he is not supposed to feel anything at all. Dong Kyung quietly observes his confusion and begins to wonder whether their contract has already grown into something more. The second-lead triangle between Ji Na, Joo Ik, and Lee Hyun Kyu takes shape. Seo In Guk carries this episode almost entirely through restraint.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 8 — Love or Doom?
EP 08
Love or Doom?
May 31, 2021
The tension between Dong Kyung and Myeol Mang reaches a tipping point — their proximity makes it harder for either to deny what is forming between them. He warns her again that loving him is dangerous: anything she treasures could be destroyed. She pushes back, refusing to accept that her remaining months must be lived without connection. This episode is the dramatic midpoint — and it earns the weight it carries.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 9 — The 100-Day Promise
EP 09
The 100-Day Promise
June 7, 2021
Dong Kyung makes a direct, bold declaration of her feelings — forcing Myeol Mang into a moment of raw vulnerability he has never experienced before. The stakes of the contract become viscerally real as the consequences of her wishes begin to ripple outward in ways she did not anticipate. The sub-couple storyline deepens as Ji Na struggles between her long-held feelings for Hyun Kyu and her newer, more complicated feelings for Joo Ik. The episode feels slower than it should — but the character work is genuine.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 10 — Convergence of Fates
EP 10
Convergence of Fates
June 7, 2021
Myeol Mang begins inserting himself into Dong Kyung’s life in new guises, trying to understand why she feels strangely familiar to him on a cosmic level. So Nyeon Sin starts offering subtle guidance that suggests the love between Doom and a mortal may not be as impossible as the universe has always insisted. Dong Kyung’s health deteriorates slightly, adding urgency to every moment they share. The mythology gets its most interesting treatment here.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 11 — A Different Kind of Existence
EP 11
A Different Kind of Existence
June 14, 2021
Myeol Mang openly acknowledges that he has feelings for Dong Kyung and begins actively choosing to be with her rather than simply fulfilling contractual obligations. Their relationship shifts from partners in a deal to something undeniably romantic. Joo Ik begins to openly pursue Ji Na, forcing Hyun Kyu to confront whether he ever truly loved her or simply found comfort in familiarity. The show’s best episode since episode 8.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 12 — The Cost of Love
EP 12
The Cost of Love
June 14, 2021
The consequences of loving Doom become terrifyingly real as those close to Dong Kyung begin to experience harm. She is forced to weigh her personal happiness against the safety of her brother, aunt, and the people she cannot afford to lose. Myeol Mang, tortured by the damage his presence causes, contemplates stepping away from her entirely — not out of indifference, but because his love is genuinely dangerous. The episode makes the stakes feel real for the first time in weeks.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 13 — Separation
EP 13
Separation
June 21, 2021
Myeol Mang temporarily removes himself from Dong Kyung’s life in an attempt to protect her loved ones from further harm. Dong Kyung, aware of his reasons, tries to live through the absence with grace even as it quietly breaks her. The goddess So Nyeon Sin grows more directly involved, hinting at a possible way to break the cycle of destruction that has always defined Doom’s existence. Park Bo Young is quietly devastating here — doing the most with the least.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 14 — Finding a Way Back
EP 14
Finding a Way Back
June 21, 2021
Dong Kyung refuses to accept the forced distance and finds ways to reach out to Myeol Mang despite his absence. The sub-couple sees resolution as Ji Na clearly chooses Joo Ik, letting go of her past with Hyun Kyu in a scene that is handled with more grace than the sub-plot deserved. Myeol Mang, seeing Dong Kyung’s determination, begins to consider that their bond might be strong enough to challenge fate itself. The show finds its footing again in the final stretch.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 15 — The Last Wish
EP 15
The Last Wish
June 28, 2021
After Myeol Mang disappears, Dong Kyung continues living with the people she loves, waiting for him to return — and finding genuine peace in those small moments. She visits his house and discovers something he deliberately left behind for her: evidence that he never intended to be gone forever. The episode builds with quiet longing toward the final resolution, as the 100-day contract window nears its absolute end. One of the drama’s best standalone episodes.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 16 — Finale
EP 16
Finale
June 29, 2021
The fated contract reaches its conclusion — and Myeol Mang returns to Dong Kyung, no longer the embodiment of pure Doom but something closer to human, with direction and purpose. Dong Kyung’s terminal illness is resolved through the intervention of divine fate, allowing her to live. Her brother Sun Kyung settles into responsibility, and aunt Kang Soo Ja warmly welcomes Myeol Mang into the family. Joo Ik and Ji Na confirm their relationship with warmth and bickering. The final image shows Myeol Mang — now Kim Sa Ram — holding Dong Kyung’s hand and promising never to disappear again. Doom replaced by love, at last.

🏁 Ending Explained

⚠️
Spoiler Warning — This section covers the full finale of Doom at Your Service (Season 1). Stop here if you haven’t finished the series.

The Contract’s Final Terms. The sixteenth episode opens with the 100-day window closing — the exact span of time Dong Kyung and Myeol Mang agreed to at the start, when she was a woman with three months to live and he was an entity incapable of attachment. The contract’s original terms were brutal: she could live freely, but anything she loved was at risk. By the end, those terms have been rewritten not by gods or fate documents, but by the accumulation of 100 days in which two people who were never supposed to matter to each other became the most important thing in each other’s existence. The finale begins with absence — Myeol Mang is gone, and Dong Kyung has to live in the shape that absence leaves behind.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 15 — The Last Wish

The Thing He Left Behind. Episode 15 established the key detail that pays off in the finale: Dong Kyung visited Myeol Mang’s house after his disappearance and found something deliberate — a message, an object, an act of intent. This is the drama’s way of signalling what the finale will confirm: his absence was not abandonment. He left because staying would destroy the people she loves, and he chose her life over his presence in it. The finale’s emotional logic rests entirely on this — that love, when it comes from Doom, looks like withdrawal. That the most romantic thing he could do was disappear.

So Nyeon Sin’s Intervention. The goddess So Nyeon Sin — who has been watching the whole arrangement from a cryptic, superior distance — finally acts. Her role throughout the drama was opaque by design: she observed, she hinted, she occasionally nudged. In the finale, she makes explicit what the drama has implied since episode 10: the love between a mortal and Doom is not categorically impossible. It has happened before. What changes things is not power or sacrifice but the nature of the wish that started everything. Dong Kyung did not wish for the world to end out of malice — she wished from grief, from longing, from the specific anguish of someone who loves the world and cannot bear losing it. That distinction, So Nyeon Sin decides, matters enough to change what Doom is allowed to become.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) Episode 8 — Love or Doom?

Kim Sa Ram. Myeol Mang returns — but not as Doom. He returns as Kim Sa Ram, an ordinary human name, carrying none of the supernatural authority that defined every earlier scene. His power is gone. His immortality is gone. What remains is a man shaped by 100 days of learning what it means to want something for someone else. Dong Kyung’s terminal illness is resolved alongside this transformation: she lives, and so does he, in a form that allows them to live together. The show does not make this feel like an easy miracle — the drama’s final act earns the resolution by insisting that love did not fix anything so much as it changed what was worth fixing.

The Final Image. The drama closes on something deliberately quiet: Myeol Mang — Kim Sa Ram now — holding Dong Kyung’s hand. Sun Kyung has matured. Kang Soo Ja has welcomed this strange, formerly terrifying man into her family with warmth she did not plan to feel. Joo Ik and Ji Na exist in comfortable, bickering happiness. Hyun Kyu moves forward without bitterness. Everyone Dong Kyung loved survives the thing she feared most about loving Doom — and Doom himself survives becoming someone new. The final line is his promise: he will not disappear again. One hundred days was how long it took for Doom to learn that love is not the end of the world — it is what makes the world worth not ending.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take

Our honest read on why this drama is worth your time — and who it’s for.

💗 Bittersweet Romance
✨ Supernatural Fantasy
😭 Emotionally Devastating
🌸 Quietly Beautiful
⏳ Time-Sensitive Love

There is a specific kind of K-drama that does not ask you to root for a happy ending so much as it asks you to sit with the possibility that a happy ending might not be available — and Doom at Your Service belongs to that category at its best. Park Bo Young has always been exceptional at playing ordinary women in extraordinary circumstances, but Tak Dong Kyung is one of her finest: a woman who responds to a terminal diagnosis not with nobility or acceptance but with fury, then grief, then something slowly resembling peace. She finds that peace in the most unreasonable place imaginable — with Doom himself — and the show’s great achievement is making that feel earned rather than convenient. Seo In Guk, meanwhile, does something genuinely difficult: he makes a supernatural entity who is not supposed to feel anything the most emotionally legible person in every scene he is in. You track the exact moment Doom starts to care. You track the exact moment he realises he cannot stop. If you’re a fan of My Demon (2023) — which shares much of this drama’s supernatural contract DNA — this is the earlier blueprint.

Doom at Your Service (Season 1) (2021) — cinematic still

The drama’s middle section — roughly episodes 9 through 12 — is where it tests your patience. The secondary couple (Ji Na, Joo Ik, Hyun Kyu) gets more screen time than the story demands, and the mythology around So Nyeon Sin never quite resolves into something as rich as the show implies it should be. These are genuine frustrations. The divine framework that should explain why this love between a mortal and Doom is cosmically significant remains more gestured at than built. And terminal illness as a romantic device carries its own set of risks: it can slide into manipulation easily, asking audiences to feel things the writing hasn’t fully justified. Doom at Your Service largely avoids that trap — but it gets close in a few of the slower episodes. Queen of Tears (2024) handles the same terminal illness premise with more structural confidence; this one trusts its leads to carry what the script occasionally cannot.

What keeps you watching through all of it is the chemistry — and the chemistry here is real. Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk operate at the same emotional frequency, and their scenes together have a quality of genuine surprise, as if both actors are discovering what their characters feel at the same moment the characters do. The finale is earned. It does not deliver a neat resolution so much as it delivers a transformed one: Doom becomes Kim Sa Ram, a man shaped by 100 days of love, and Dong Kyung lives. The show argues that love, when it is real enough, changes what the universe allows — and it makes that argument with enough sincerity that you believe it, even knowing it is impossible. Stick with it through the slow middle — the ending knows exactly what it’s doing.
