Our honest read on why this drama is worth your time — and who it’s for.

Choi Jin-hyuk has spent much of his career as the second lead — the warm, steadfast man who doesn’t get the girl — and Positively Yours is, among other things, a corrective. As Kang Du-jun, he finally gets the full arc: the ice that cracks, the grief that explains the ice, the slow realisation that this woman he never planned for is the first person in years who has made him feel anything real. He plays all of it without announcement. The character could easily read as cold and controlling; Choi Jin-hyuk makes him read as someone who simply doesn’t know how to want things anymore, until he does.

The Jeong-eum villain arc is where the drama divides viewers most sharply — and both sides have a point. On one hand, Baek Eun-hye brings enough texture to Han Jeong-eum that her storyline never feels purely mechanical; the resentment has history, and the show is willing to sit with it. On the other hand, the arc overstays its welcome by roughly two episodes, pulling attention away from the lead chemistry exactly when that chemistry was finding its best gear. The verdict: worth it for Baek Eun-hye, frustrating as structural pacing. It doesn’t ruin the drama. It slows it.

Positively Yours is not a drama that reinvents anything. It leans on proven architecture — unexpected pregnancy, chaebol heir, workplace power gap — and executes that architecture with more warmth and sincerity than the premise has any right to produce. Oh Yeon-seo is the reason. She plays Hui-won as someone genuinely funny, genuinely competent, and genuinely broken in a specific way that has nothing to do with being a woman in a drama — it has to do with being someone who decided very early that needing people was the most dangerous thing she could do. Watching that decision soften, episode by episode, without ever becoming saccharine, is what makes this worth twelve hours of your weekend. It knows exactly what it is. That’s the rarest thing.
