Kang Tae-ju (Namkoong Min) is a former neurosurgeon turned hospital director — a man who has spent his career understanding exactly how the brain processes threat, and spent his marriage somehow understanding very little else. When his wife Ko Se-yun (Lee Seol) is kidnapped in the hours before their divorce is finalized, the situation becomes specific in the worst possible way: he is both the person best equipped to handle a crisis, and the person with the least obvious reason to care.

The criminal is cunning enough to know exactly which pressure points to apply. Tae-ju has to decide whether he is still the husband who failed her, or something else entirely. Director Kim Jung-hyun, who previously helmed Legal High and At a Distance Spring Is Green, takes Namkoong Min into territory where his charm alone won’t carry him. KBS2 on Saturdays and Sundays from July 4. The kind of thriller that builds its tension in the gaps between what a marriage was and what it still might need to be.

공감세포 — empathy cells, the biological mechanism that makes us feel what others feel. It’s the kind of title that sounds like science and turns out to be entirely about romance. Kim Myung-soo (L of INFINITE) and Kang Min-ah anchor a fantasy romantic comedy built around the idea that genuine emotional resonance is both rarer and stranger than we expect — and that the people who feel it most acutely are often the least prepared for what it costs them.

Six episodes on Saturdays via Disney+ and Viu — compact, contained, and exactly the right length for what this kind of story needs to do. L has been building his dramatic credibility project by project since his debut; Kang Min-ah opposite him is the pairing this format deserves. Full character details are still arriving. Park Hae-gang (Ji Sung) is a former gangster, current CEO, and a man with an extremely specific plan: run for Residents’ Council Chairman of a large apartment complex, then quietly extract the 10 billion won he knows is sitting in the building’s reserve funds. Kang Ha-ri (Ha Yoon-kyoung) works secretly at a free legal consultation counter while studying for the bar — she stumbles into Hae-gang’s orbit at exactly the wrong moment and immediately uncovers something far larger than hidden reserves. What begins as a heist gradually, and somewhat against its own will, transforms Hae-gang into the most effective champion this neighborhood has ever had. It promises warmth, humor, and the particular kind of ache that only second-chance romance can carry: the one where you know exactly what you lost, but you’re no longer the person who lost it.

ENA’s Monday-Tuesday slot has a track record for launching slow-burn romances that quietly become the drama you can’t stop thinking about once they’re over. Hwang In-yeop has been waiting for a lead showcase with this kind of emotional range since 18 Again — and Hyeri brings an entirely different kind of warmth opposite him. Twelve episodes starting July 13. A drama built for the feeling you get when something you thought was finished turns out to just be paused.

When strange and terrifying incidents begin to spread through the palace walls, the King summons them both in secret — which tells you immediately how dangerous the truth at the center of this might be. Dark fantasy historical from Netflix, directed by Choi Jung-gyu. Eight episodes, dropping Fridays from July 17. The kind of show that makes the palace feel like it has always been haunted, and you simply hadn’t noticed until now.

Cheon Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) is a wealthy hotel heiress who cannot enter a room without knowing which spirits left their impression in it. It’s not a gift she asked for, and not a curse she can return. It’s the reason she’s spent most of her adult life keeping a careful distance from everyone — and why a prosecutor with nothing left to lose feels, somehow, like the most dangerous person she’s ever been near.

Ma Gang-wook (Yang Se-jong) is the kind of man whose conviction runs hot enough to make bad situations worse before he makes them better. When the murder cases he’s chasing start leading directly to victims only Yeo-ri can see, the partnership is less a choice than an inevitability.
