Im Joo-hyung has one goal when he checks into the Peace Village near the DMZ: quiet. He is Seoul’s most in-demand pianist, he is exhausted, and he did not sign up to share a house with anyone. Then Ha Na-kyung shows up late with her entourage from Pyongyang, a system error gets blamed, and the two of them are informed they will be living together for the rest of the year — one South Korean celebrity and one North Korean official’s daughter, thrown into the same small house as a test case for reunification.

Love Andante spends its eight episodes doing what the genre does best: turning irritation into curiosity, curiosity into stargazing, and stargazing into something neither of them planned for. The premise is political on paper — a fictional joint-living program meant to sell reunification to two skeptical publics — but the show mostly uses it as a pressure cooker for a will-they-won’t-they, letting Joo-hyung’s fastidiousness collide with Na-kyung’s bluntness until the collision starts to feel like home.

📺 Episode Guide

Spoiler-light recaps — enough to remember where you left off, nothing that ruins the ride.

Love Andante Episode 1 — It's the Moving Day for Peace Village Residents
EP 01
It’s the Moving Day for Peace Village Residents
Aug 7, 2024
Joo-hyung arrives at the Peace Village expecting a quiet retreat and instead finds out he has a roommate. Na-kyung and her entourage from Pyongyang roll in late, and a system error becomes the excuse for pairing the two of them under one roof. It is not a meet-cute so much as a mutual inconvenience, which is exactly the setup this kind of show needs.

Love Andante Episode 2 — While the Residents of Peace Village Get to Know Each Other, Ju Hyeong and Na Gyeong Face Each Other
EP 02
While the Residents of Peace Village Get to Know Each Other, Ju Hyeong and Na Gyeong Face Each Other
Aug 8, 2024
Joo-hyung’s rigid daily routine runs straight into Na-kyung’s total disregard for one, and the friction is immediate. A village party forces them into an impromptu duet, and the performance does what proximity alone couldn’t — it makes Joo-hyung actually curious about her instead of just annoyed.

Love Andante Episode 3 — Because of the Kiss, It's Uncomfortable for Joo Hyung and Na Gyeong, but the Life in Peace Village Stabilizes
EP 03
Because of the Kiss, It’s Uncomfortable for Joo Hyung and Na Gyeong, but the Life in Peace Village Stabilizes
Aug 13, 2024
Joo-hyung wakes up next to Na-kyung with a memory of a kiss she doesn’t seem to remember at all, and the imbalance stings more than he expects. Underneath the awkwardness, Na-kyung is quietly carrying worries about her father and her mother’s approaching death anniversary — reminders that her life outside this house is heavier than the village lets on.

Love Andante Episode 4 — The More Time Joo Hyung and Na Gyeong Spend Together, the Closer They Get
EP 04
The More Time Joo Hyung and Na Gyeong Spend Together, the Closer They Get
Aug 14, 2024
When Joo-hyung gets sick, Na-kyung cooks for him and leaves a note that lands harder than the food does. Between that, an evening of stargazing, and an almost-kiss neither of them addresses, the show quietly retires the antagonism from episode one — what’s left is two people who clearly like each other and don’t know what to do about it.

Love Andante Episode 5 — To Spend Time with Na Gyeong, Joo Hyung Sets Up a Date
EP 05
To Spend Time with Na Gyeong, Joo Hyung Sets Up a Date
Aug 15, 2024
Joo-hyung stops waiting for accidents to bring them together and just plans a date, which is the clearest sign yet that he’s given up pretending this is nothing. The night ends with the whole village crowded around a movie screen, folding the two of them back into the community they’re falling in love inside of.

Love Andante Episode 6 — Joo Hyung's Agent Infiltrates Peace Village, Putting Joo Hyung, Na Gyeong, and Gyeong Ho in a Predicament
EP 06
Joo Hyung’s Agent Infiltrates Peace Village, Putting Joo Hyung, Na Gyeong, and Gyeong Ho in a Predicament
Aug 21, 2024
Joo-hyung’s agent shows up uninvited, and suddenly his celebrity life and his Peace Village life are occupying the same room. The visit puts real pressure on Na-kyung and Nam Gyeong-ho too, a reminder that whatever this relationship is, it was never going to stay contained inside the village fence.

Love Andante Episode 7 — Tong Il Is Born, but Ju Hui Who Took a Video of the Event Accidentally Leaks It. Peace Village Is at Crisis
EP 07
Tong Il Is Born, but Ju Hui Who Took a Video of the Event Accidentally Leaks It. Peace Village Is at Crisis
Aug 22, 2024
A baby named Tong Il — literally, “reunification” — is born into the village, and for a moment the whole experiment feels like it’s working. Then Kim Joo-hee’s leaked video of the birth threatens to undo it, forcing the residents to close ranks around the thing they’ve actually built together, not just the political symbol it was meant to be.

Love Andante Episode 8 — It's Been a Year Already. Feeling Sad to Leave but Composedly, the Villagers Prepare for a Goodbye
EP 08
It’s Been a Year Already. Feeling Sad to Leave but Composedly, the Villagers Prepare for a Goodbye
Aug 29, 2024
The year is up, and the Peace Village has to actually end, which means Joo-hyung and Na-kyung have to face what happens when the experiment stops protecting them. Their own goodbye plays out quieter than expected, while several of the side couples get the tidier, sweeter send-offs — proof that the village changed more people than just its two most famous residents.

🏁 Ending Explained

Full spoilers ahead — everything that happens in the finale and what it all means.

⚠️
Spoiler Warning — This section covers the full finale of Love Andante. Stop here if you haven’t finished the series.

What actually happened The Peace Village’s one-year term ends, and every resident has to leave — including Joo-hyung and Na-kyung, who go back to the divided countries they came from. The show doesn’t stage a grand airport-style declaration for its leads; their parting is handled with restraint, a few quiet words instead of a speech, while several of the supporting couples get more clearly resolved, happier send-offs.

Love Andante (2024) — Joo-hyung and Na-kyung at the Peace Village on their final day

Why the quiet goodbye works better than it looks Love Andante was never actually about whether the Peace Village succeeds as policy — it’s about whether two people who were forced together can choose each other once the forcing stops. An understated ending fits that better than a tidy bow would. Joo-hyung and Na-kyung’s story was built on small domestic gestures, not declarations, so their goodbye staying small is consistent, even if it leaves some viewers wanting one more scene.

The village’s other couples get the send-off the leads don’t Set Joo-hyung and Na-kyung’s quiet parting against how the finale treats its side couples, and the imbalance looks deliberate. Several of the Peace Village’s other pairs get warmer, more clearly resolved goodbyes — proof the show had a tidier ending available and chose not to hand it to its two most famous residents specifically.

Love Andante (2024) — The Peace Village's other couples say their goodbyes

The forced part of the premise quietly disappears Nobody in the finale is still standing in that village because a system error assigned them there. They’re there, and then they leave, because a year together turned an accident into something they’d choose again given the option. That’s the quieter accomplishment this rom-com pulls off.

The KDW verdict Tong Il’s birth in episode seven is really the show’s thesis moment — a baby literally named “reunification” born out of a system error, cared for by two nations’ worth of strangers who became a village. Whatever happens to Joo-hyung and Na-kyung individually, that image is the ending Love Andante actually wanted to leave behind: proof that the experiment worked, at least for the people inside it.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take

Our honest read on why this drama is worth your time — and who it’s for.

🎹 Piano Meets Politics
🏘️ Forced Cohabitation
🕊️ DMZ Rom-Com
🌙 Slow-Burn Stargazing

Love Andante borrows its central device — two strangers forced to share a home by bureaucratic accident — from a genre that’s been reliable ever since Love in Contract proved audiences will watch two mismatched people negotiate a shared kitchen indefinitely. What it adds is the DMZ setting, which could have played as heavy political commentary and instead mostly plays as scenery — a pretty, symbolic backdrop for a show that’s really about a pianist learning to loosen up.

Love Andante (2024) — cinematic still

It helps that the North-South premise gives the show a genuinely different texture than most cohabitation rom-coms manage. Where Crash Landing on You mined the border for high-stakes melodrama, Love Andante keeps things closer to sitcom scale — a leaked video, a nosy talent agent, a baby named Tong Il — and the small stakes are honestly the right call for an eight-episode runtime.

Kwon Hyun-bin sells Joo-hyung’s uptightness without making him insufferable, and Song Ji-woo gives Na-kyung enough bluntness that her softening never reads as a personality transplant. Neither performance is showy. Both are exactly calibrated for a show this size.

👍👍👍 BEST FOR 👍👍👍
🎹 Anyone who wants a music-adjacent rom-com without a full conservatory backstory attached
🏘️ Fans of forced-cohabitation setups who want the politics kept light
⏱️ Viewers who want a complete romance in under five hours

⚖️ Final Verdict
What works
Kwon Hyun-bin and Song Ji-woo’s slow-build chemistry
The Peace Village ensemble gives the leads’ romance somewhere to breathe
Eight tight episodes with almost no wasted time

What to know first
The reunification premise stays symbolic rather than substantive
The finale’s restraint may read as underwhelming if you want a bigger send-off
This is comfort-watch scale, not prestige-drama scale

6.8 / 10— A short, sweet cohabitation rom-com that uses its political premise as mood lighting rather than substance, and mostly gets away with it.
