Fly High Butterfly is the kind of hair salon that exists in every neighborhood — easy to walk past, easy to forget, until you’re the customer sitting in the chair needing more than a haircut. Salon De Nabi builds its entire premise around that chair: director Michelle (Oh Yoon-ah) runs the place, stylists Kwang-soo (Choi Daniel) and Jen (Sim Eun-woo) hold down the floor, and newest intern Gi-bbeum (Kim Hyang-gi) is still learning that the job is as much about listening as it is about scissors. Every customer who walks in carries something they didn’t say out loud on the way in, and the show’s whole bet is that watching them leave a little lighter is worth an episode.

What makes Salon De Nabi worth clocking is less the premise than the timing — this is a JTBC production that wrapped filming in 2021 and sat unaired for five years before finally reaching Korean television tonight, having already found an audience in Taiwan and on Prime Video in the meantime. JTBC re-cut the original 16 episodes down to 10 for this broadcast, a bet that a tighter, faster-moving version suits 2026 viewing habits better than the show’s original pacing did. Whether that gamble pays off is the real story here — a genuinely warm ensemble premise getting a second chance it almost never got.

📺 Episode Guide

A light recap per episode — nothing more than a nudge.

Salon De Nabi Episode 1 — The Job She's Starting to Doubt EP 01
The Job She’s Starting to Doubt
Sep 19, 2026
Gi-bbeum’s first real taste of life at Butterfly Salon is a makeover that leaves her looking put-together and feeling like an impostor — one mishap after another, and she’s already wondering if hairstyling was ever actually her dream or just the plan she landed on. Fellow intern Moo-yeol doesn’t help: he treats the job like a formality, and when his carelessness costs them a customer, Gi-bbeum’s patience finally snaps.

Salon De Nabi Episode 2 — The Truth That Complicates Everything EP 02
The Truth That Complicates Everything
Sep 20, 2026
A performance that actually moves her cracks something open in Gi-bbeum — for the first time since the makeover disaster, she lets herself be honest with the people around her instead of just enduring the job. Moo-yeol gets no such reprieve: strange men start showing up asking after him, and once Gi-bbeum learns what’s actually behind it, her irritation with him stops being simple.

Salon De Nabi Episode 3 — The Second-Date Bet EP 03
The Second-Date Bet
Sep 26, 2026
A blunt customer leaves the Butterfly Salon team flustered, and Soo-ri’s kindness sets off chaos of its own, straining things with Jen. Then an old friend invites Gi-bbeum to dinner, and the whole team places bets on whether it earns a second date. An unexpected crisis is waiting for her all the same.

Salon De Nabi Episode 4 — A Side of Her He Never Knew EP 04
A Side of Her He Never Knew
Sep 27, 2026
Mu-yeol’s confession leaves Gi-bbeum too shaken to process it properly, and before she can, a string of unexpected events lands her in the ER. Mu-yeol ends up there too, and what he sees of her in that room is nothing like the intern he thought he knew. Whatever answer he was hoping for, this isn’t the way either of them expected to get it.

Salon De Nabi Episode 5 — The Jealousy Test EP 05
The Jealousy Test
Oct 3, 2026
Gi-bbeum decides the surest way to learn how Moo-yeol really feels is to make him jealous, and she sets a plan in motion. Meanwhile, the Nabi women’s outing takes an unexpected turn. By the end, something between Gi-bbeum and Moo-yeol has begun to change. After a confession that left her shaken and an ER visit that exposed more than either intended, this is the first time Gi-bbeum is the one setting the terms.

Salon De Nabi Episode 6 — Dating Without a Script EP 06
Dating Without a Script
Oct 4, 2026
Gi-bbeum and Moo-yeol start dating, and the first thing that shows up is how little either of them knows about doing it. Misunderstandings pile up fast, each one small enough to laugh off and just big enough to sting. Over at the salon, Michelle is worrying about her daughter, which gives the episode a second, more protective thread running alongside the new romance.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take

Here’s our honest verdict, and who’s going to love it.

✂️ Hair As Healing 🦋 Second Chances 👥 Salon Chair Confessions ⏳ Five Years Late

The premise Salon De Nabi is built on sounds almost too simple to sustain sixteen — now ten — episodes: people come in for a haircut and leave having said something they needed to say out loud. It’s the same trick Our Blues ran on a fishing town instead of a salon chair — ordinary people, ordinary problems, and a setting mundane enough that the emotional moments land harder for not being dressed up in anything bigger than a customer’s bad week.

Salon De Nabi (2026) — cinematic still

It also helps that the cast reads like a found-family show already knows how to be one — Oh Yoon-ah’s Michelle running the floor, Choi Daniel and Sim Eun-woo holding down two very different stylist personalities, Kim Hyang-gi’s Gi-bbeum still earning her place. That’s the same shape Family by Choice built its whole appeal on: people who aren’t related choosing each other anyway, one shift at a time.

None of that explains why it took five years to air. A shelved production, an actor’s now-resolved controversy, and a JTBC schedule with a hole to fill are the reasons Salon De Nabi exists on Korean television at all this month — and it means this show arrives carrying more real-world baggage than its gentle premise lets on. The overseas numbers (an 8.2 on MyDramaList from its Taiwan and Prime Video run) suggest the material holds up regardless of how it got here.

👍👍👍 BEST FOR 👍👍👍
✂️ Anyone who wants a workplace show that isn’t secretly a workplace romance 🦋 Viewers drawn to slice-of-life dramas about ordinary people’s small crises ⏳ K-drama trivia fans curious what a five-years-shelved production actually looks like

⚖️ Final Verdict
What works
•A specific, uncommon setting that gives every episode a built-in reason for strangers to open up
•An ensemble deep enough to survive the compression from 16 episodes down to 10
•A real overseas track record (Taiwan, Prime Video) instead of pure pre-air guesswork

What to know first
•Nothing has aired domestically yet — this is a pre-air read, not a finished review
•The 16-to-10 episode re-edit is a real gamble on pacing that could go either way
•A 2021 production may carry visual and tonal choices that feel a step behind 2026 dramas

Anticipation Pick— A gentle, overdue ensemble dramedy finally getting the audience it was denied five years ago.
