Noh Ki Jun is the kind of man who would insure his own heartbreak — and he has, three times over. A brilliant actuary at Plus General Insurance whose marriages have cost him more than money, he proposes an industry first: a divorce insurance policy that treats the end of a marriage as the unforeseen disaster it truly is. His team is assembled from the wreckage of other people’s love lives — underwriter Kang Han Deul, who filed her own papers before the ink dried on her contract; risk-averse surveyor An Jeon Man, for whom this project is the biggest gamble of his life; and quantitative analyst Jeon Na Rae, who is also, somehow, Ki Jun’s ex-wife.

As the team battles corporate skepticism, regulatory red tape, and the emotional weight of their own fractured pasts, something neither spreadsheet nor actuarial model could have predicted begins to happen: they start to understand each other. And Ki Jun, who has spent years calculating the odds of love failing, starts to wonder if he’s been asking the wrong question all along.

📺 Episode Guide

Spoiler-light recaps — enough to remember where you left off, nothing that ruins the ride.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 1
EP 01
The Pitch
March 31, 2025
Noh Ki Jun is the kind of man who would insure his own heartbreak — and after three divorces, he’s done waiting for someone else to do it. His pitch to Plus General Insurance is audacious, personal, and somehow convincing enough to get a green light. The team forms fast: underwriter Kang Han Deul arrives fresh from filing her own papers, and the show immediately establishes its tone — darkly comic, warmly human, and smarter than the premise suggests.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 2
EP 02
Meet the Ex
April 1, 2025
The team gets its final member when Jeon Na Rae walks through the door — and Ki Jun’s composure walks out with her. She is his ex-wife. Third one, specifically. The rest of the team absorbs this information with commendable professionalism. Meanwhile, the first fieldwork assignment sends Ki Jun and Han Deul somewhere unexpected together, and the show begins laying its quieter emotional groundwork.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 3
EP 03
Case Files
April 7, 2025
Case studies begin — which means sitting across from real couples whose marriages are ending and somehow turning that into actuarial data. The team has to stay clinical. Nobody manages it. Han Deul starts to understand why Ki Jun’s three divorces didn’t break him; they sharpened him. The episode deepens each character’s private relationship with failure, and the ensemble chemistry begins to click.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 4
EP 04
The Human Cost
April 8, 2025
The project hits its first serious wall. Internal skeptics question whether divorce should be insurable at all — ethically, commercially, practically. Ki Jun fights for it harder than he’s fought for anything personal in years, which says something. An Jeon Man’s “safety-first” worldview becomes the team’s unlikely weapon as he dismantles every objection raised in the boardroom one careful argument at a time.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 5
EP 05
Field Work
April 14, 2025
A couple on the verge of divorce becomes the team’s first real test case — introducing Gu Mi Rae, a tarot master whose marriage to documentary photographer Sin Hyeon Jae has been slowly hollowed out by distance and absence. The team struggles to stay clinical. This is where the show earns its emotional core: divorce isn’t a product category, it’s a story that happens to people, and every story lands differently.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 6
EP 06
The Numbers Don’t Lie
April 15, 2025
The Gu Mi Rae and Sin Hyeon Jae case continues as the team tries to quantify the unquantifiable — how much is a marriage worth when it ends? The answer is more complicated than any spreadsheet can capture. Han Deul and Ki Jun’s conversations grow longer, less professional, and more honest, though neither of them acknowledges what’s happening between them.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 7
EP 07
Slow Burn
April 21, 2025
A new case takes the team to a village setting and lightens the episode’s tone considerably. An Jeon Man starts to surprise himself — someone who built his life around avoiding risk finds the divorce insurance project the most adventurous thing he’s ever attempted. The episode is breathing room after the heavier beats of the previous two, and the Jeon Man and Na Rae dynamic gets room to grow.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 8
EP 08
Caught
April 22, 2025
Ki Jun and Han Deul are caught living in each other’s apartments — a situation that requires considerably more explaining than either of them is ready to do. Na Rae and Jeon Man discover the truth, the team dynamic shifts irreversibly, and the main romance steps out of the subtext and into something that requires an actual decision. The episode delivers the show’s funniest scene and one of its most honest.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 9
EP 09
The Leak
April 28, 2025
Someone leaked confidential project information, and the company’s response is immediate: the team is to be disbanded. Ki Jun has spent his career building products that didn’t exist before — this one was different. The episode turns on a harder question than who leaked: whether the people in this room will fight for each other, or just for the product. The internal audit suspects Han Deul.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 10
EP 10
Unlikely Ally
April 29, 2025
A Financial Supervisory Service manager arrives to review the team’s work — and then announces, without apparent irony, that he is personally getting a divorce. He becomes the project’s most improbable advocate. Ki Jun and Han Deul, running out of excuses to delay what’s obvious between them, edge toward a conversation they’ve both been avoiding since Episode 8.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 11
EP 11
Red Yarn
May 5, 2025
The scene the series has been earning for ten episodes. Han Deul teaches Ki Jun to weave — her hands over his, her favourite red yarn as the thread — and the romance that’s been building quietly since Episode 1 finally lands somewhere real. Elsewhere, Team Leader Na Dae Bok comes home to find divorce papers on the table from a wife who ran out of patience while he wasn’t paying attention. The episode is the series at its warmest and most honest.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 12
EP 12
The Launch
May 6, 2025
The divorce insurance product launches — and every storyline the show has been running finds its resolution. Ki Jun and Han Deul commit to something new, built on mutual honesty rather than grand gestures. An Jeon Man, the man who built his life around avoiding risk, follows Na Rae to Singapore without hesitation. Na Dae Bok earns his way back to his wife one honest conversation at a time — acknowledging, finally, the invisible weight she carried while he wasn’t looking. The team’s farewell getaway is the show’s quietest and best scene: four people who came together to build a product, and ended up building something harder to insure. The finale is a little compressed, but the warmth it lands on is entirely earned.

🎭 Ensemble Cast

The Divorce Insurance has a premise so specific it should be gimmicky — and instead it’s the most grounded thing about the show. A team of divorcees building an insurance product for divorce is not a metaphor the drama needs to explain: it plays it straight, and the quirky sincerity that results is genuinely refreshing. Lee Dong Wook plays Ki Jun with a quiet weariness that makes three marriages feel like earned history rather than a plot device, and the decision to cast four leads all named Lee — all coming off their own romantic damage — gives the ensemble an unusual lived-in chemistry from the first episode.

The Divorce Insurance (2025)

The drama’s most divisive element is its pacing — episodes four through eight are where the show tests your patience, leaning into workplace procedural at the expense of the romantic tension it’s been carefully building. Lee Kwang Soo and Kim Won Hae keep things alive during this stretch: Jeon Man’s “safety first” arc pays off more satisfyingly than the main romance, and Na Dae Bok’s subplot — a team leader who spent twelve episodes being cheerfully oblivious to his failing marriage — lands one of the series’ most quietly devastating scenes in Episode 11. If you’ve watched Welcome to Samdal-ri, the emotional register here is similar: adult characters who’ve stopped pretending their choices didn’t cost them something.

The finale is compressed — one more episode would have let the resolution breathe — but what the show gets right matters more than what it rushes. The red yarn scene in Episode 11 is the kind of quietly intimate moment that K-drama does better than almost any other format: small, specific, and completely earned. Low TV ratings notwithstanding, The Divorce Insurance found its audience on streaming, and it deserved to. Not every drama that takes a risk on a strange premise follows through — this one does.

👍👍👍 BEST FOR 👍👍👍
💼 Fans of slow-burn office romance where the ensemble matters as much as the leads
💔 Viewers who want a rom-com that takes the idea of starting over seriously
😂 Anyone who needs something warm, low-stakes, and smarter than it looks

⚖️ Final Verdict
What works
Lee Kwang Soo and Kim Won Hae steal every scene they share
The divorce insurance premise is original and surprisingly grounded
Episode 11’s red yarn scene is one of the year’s best romantic moments
Warm ensemble energy that grows stronger as the series progresses

What to know first
Pacing sags noticeably in the middle stretch (episodes 4–8)
Lead chemistry divided audiences — manage expectations going in
TV ratings were among tvN’s lowest — this is a streaming drama at heart
The finale resolves everything but feels slightly compressed

7.4 / 10Stick with it past the slow middle — the back half, and especially Episode 11, makes the whole journey worth it.
