The Blue Road
📋 Drama Overview
The setup, the stakes, and where to watch — all in one place.
A body is found in Tokyo, badly mutilated, with a message written in blood in Korean. Some time later a disfigured corpse turns up in Korea, this time with a message in Japanese. Two police forces end up looking at what may be one serial killer working across both countries. Kim Seok (Son Suk-ku) is the detective on the Korean side, from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Mobile Investigation Unit, and Inose (Eita Nagayama) is his counterpart from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division.
The Blue Road is adapted from the webcomic Blue Road, a Korean-Japanese co-production, with Han Jun-hee (D.P., Weak Hero Class) directing and Cho Yu-jin writing. It arrives on Netflix on November 20, 2026 with eight episodes, and the first three had a festival showing at the 31st Busan International Film Festival.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take
Straight talk on whether this one’s worth watching, and for who.
Most serial-killer stories start with a body. This one starts with two, in two cities, each with a message in the other country’s language. That is a good hook because it forces a Korean detective and a Japanese detective to work out together what the killer wants, and neither can solve it alone. Han Jun-hee made D.P. one of the tightest Netflix series to come out of Korea, and a script like this suits his way of keeping a thriller moving.
Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama each come from a different film industry, so the pairing carries the cross-border premise on its own. If you want Han Jun-hee’s earlier work with young characters in a different mood, Weak Hero Class 1 is already on the site.
Nothing is out yet, so this is anticipation, not a verdict. The release-date trailer is in Korean, and an English-language one may follow closer to launch; we will swap it in and add recaps once the episodes land.
