Contract MarriagePregnancyFamily DramaChaebolFound Family

Oh Yeon-doo’s life falls apart in one week: she’s pregnant, and the boyfriend responsible is caught kissing another woman days later. In the panic of the moment, she blurts out a lie to her mother that changes the entire shape of her life — that the father isn’t her cheating ex, it’s Gong Tae-kyung, an OB-GYN from a chaebol family she’s met exactly once. Tae-kyung, who has his own reasons for wanting an escape from his grandmother’s marriage schemes, goes along with it, and The Real Has Come! spends the next 49 episodes turning that one impulsive lie into an actual family.

This is a KBS2 melodrama at full length, which means the contract-marriage premise is really just the opening act. Se-jin’s manipulations, Jun-ha’s custody battle, a decades-old secret about a baby given up for adoption, two generations of mothers learning to let go of control — the show keeps widening its cast of grievances and reconciliations long after Yeon-doo and Tae-kyung’s own romance has already resolved. It’s less interested in will-they-won’t-they than in who gets to count as family once the lying stops.

📺 Episode Guide

Spoiler-light recaps — enough to remember where you left off, nothing that ruins the ride.

The Real Has Come! Episode 1 — The Star Lecturer
EP 01
The Star Lecturer
Mar 25, 2023
Oh Yeon-doo’s cheating boyfriend and her surprise pregnancy land in the same week, which is bad enough before she witnesses him kissing Jang Se-jin — the woman his family actually wants him to marry. Gong Tae-kyung, an OB-GYN with no interest in matrimony of his own, gets pulled into her chaos almost by accident, catching her as she nearly collapses on the street. Neither of them knows yet how permanently their lives are about to tangle.

The Real Has Come! Episode 2 — Geum-sil's Scheme
EP 02
Geum-sil’s Scheme
Mar 26, 2023
Yeon-doo learns she’s carrying twins, which complicates a life that was already unraveling. Tae-kyung, mildly annoyed by her sudden presence in his hospital, ends up performing her ultrasound himself — an accident of timing that keeps binding them together. His grandmother Geum-sil, meanwhile, keeps pushing the arranged marriage to Se-jin, who has her own ambitions inside the Gong family that have nothing to do with love.

The Real Has Come! Episode 3 — Yeon-doo's Dark Future
EP 03
Yeon-doo’s Dark Future
Apr 1, 2023
One of the twins turns out not to be viable, and Yeon-doo has to decide, alone, whether to keep the pregnancy at all. Her ex, Joon-ha, finds out and gets a lie in return — she tells him the baby is his, buying herself space she doesn’t actually have. Inside the Gong household, Tae-kyung’s mother In-ok is already contemplating divorce, and Se-jin hasn’t stopped scheming.

The Real Has Come! Episode 4 — A Mother's Love
EP 04
A Mother’s Love
Apr 2, 2023
Yeon-doo’s family finds out about the pregnancy, minus her mother Bong-nim, and the pressure to explain herself starts closing in. Tae-kyung, hoping a contract marriage to Se-jin might actually calm his warring family, agrees to it for reasons that have nothing to do with romance. Yeon-doo, after real deliberation, decides to keep her baby — over her mother’s furious objection.

The Real Has Come! Episode 5 — Se-jin And Yeon-doo
EP 05
Se-jin And Yeon-doo
Apr 8, 2023
Yeon-doo gets evicted the moment she commits to keeping the baby, a blunt demonstration of exactly how little support single mothers get in this world. Tae-kyung, now technically engaged to Se-jin, is sinking deeper into a family arrangement he doesn’t want. Yeon-doo, out of options, goes looking for the one person whose life is already tangled with hers.

The Real Has Come! Episode 6 — The Father Of The Child
EP 06
The Father Of The Child
Apr 9, 2023
Tae-kyung realizes the Se-jin marriage was a mistake almost as soon as he’s committed to it — her manipulations are hard to ignore once he’s paying attention. Yeon-doo, meanwhile, runs into her own mother by accident at an old school, a reunion made tenser by everything Bong-nim still doesn’t know.

The Real Has Come! Episode 7 — I'm The Baby's Father!
EP 07
I’m The Baby’s Father!
Apr 15, 2023
Bong-nim overhears Tae-kyung claiming to be the baby’s father and takes it completely at face value, which yanks both families into Yeon-doo’s lie whether they’re ready or not. A scuffle with Joon-ha, who won’t stop demanding answers about paternity, lands Tae-kyung and Yeon-doo at a police station together.

The Real Has Come! Episode 8 — The Wedding Ceremony
EP 08
The Wedding Ceremony
Apr 16, 2023
Convinced Tae-kyung is responsible, Bong-nim shows up at his house demanding accountability — and gets told, accurately, that he already proposed and Yeon-doo turned him down. Yeon-doo arrives to contain the damage and finds the situation already past containing, their two lives now visibly, officially intertwined.

The Real Has Come! Episode 9 — Yeon-doo's Sabotage
EP 09
Yeon-doo’s Sabotage
Apr 22, 2023
Selling the fake marriage to two skeptical families turns out to be harder than either of them expected, and the pressure builds fast as the actual wedding date approaches. This is still very much a business transaction for both of them — on paper, at least.

The Real Has Come! Episode 10 — The Marriage Certificate
EP 10
The Marriage Certificate
Apr 23, 2023
The contract marriage becomes official the moment the certificate is signed, and Yeon-doo and Tae-kyung move into the annex of his family compound. Cohabitation starts immediately, along with the specific discomfort of being watched by in-laws who don’t know the truth.

The Real Has Come! Episode 11 — The Memorial Service
EP 11
The Memorial Service
Apr 29, 2023
A family memorial service is Yeon-doo’s first real test of how little she actually knows about the family she’s married into, and Tae-kyung’s failure to prepare her for it doesn’t help. The distance between them here is still mostly formality, but it’s real.

The Real Has Come! Episode 12 — The Unwelcome Guest
EP 12
The Unwelcome Guest
Apr 30, 2023
Se-jin keeps finding reasons to be around, each appearance a small threat to the fake marriage’s stability. Elsewhere in the family, Hyun-woo’s wife Ji-myeong turns up unexpectedly pregnant, adding a second complicated pregnancy plot the show clearly intends to keep running alongside the first.

The Real Has Come! Episode 13 — Yeon-doo's Birthday
EP 13
Yeon-doo’s Birthday
May 6, 2023
Yeon-doo’s birthday becomes another battlefield with Geum-sil, proof that being pregnant and newly married hasn’t bought her any peace inside this house. Elsewhere, quieter romantic sparks start catching for two of the show’s side characters.

The Real Has Come! Episode 14 — Se-jin's Scheme
EP 14
Se-jin’s Scheme
May 7, 2023
Se-jin stops circling and starts actively working to expose the fake marriage, giving the couple their first real external threat instead of just family friction. The fragile arrangement they’ve built needs defending now, not just maintaining.

The Real Has Come! Episode 15 — Couvade Syndrome
EP 15
Couvade Syndrome
May 13, 2023
Tae-kyung starts experiencing couvade syndrome — physical pregnancy symptoms of his own — a strange, involuntary sign of how attached he’s already become to Yeon-doo and the baby, contract or not.

EP 18

The Real Has Come! Episode 19 — Fighting Back

May 27, 2023
Yeon-doo stops absorbing pressure from both families quietly and starts pushing back, asserting herself in a way that reframes her from victim of circumstance to someone actively steering her own life.

🏁 Ending Explained

Full spoilers ahead — everything that happens in the finale and what it all means.

⚠️
Spoiler Warning — This section covers the full finale of The Real Has Come!. Stop here if you haven’t finished the series.

What actually happens in the finale The finale ties off every open thread at once: Se-jin apologizes and leaves for her studies abroad after tending to her dying father, Joon-ha fully relinquishes his claim to Ha-neul and makes peace with the past, and Yeon-doo asks to move the whole extended family into the annex — a request the in-laws take, correctly, as total acceptance. Tae-kyung and Yeon-doo’s wedding closes the season, formalizing a family that was built entirely out of a lie nobody planned to keep.

The Real Has Come! (2023) — Tae-kyung and Yeon-doo's wedding closes The Real Has Come!

That’s a lot of closure to deliver in one episode, and The Real Has Come! doesn’t pretend otherwise — fifty episodes of grievances get resolved with the efficiency of a show that knows exactly how much runway it has left. The pacing is blunt, but the emotional logic holds: everyone who needed to apologize does, and everyone who needed to let go, does.

What it means for Ha-neul’s family Ha-neul ends the series with three adults who each, in different ways, chose her — Tae-kyung by adoption, Yeon-doo by birth, and Ms. Eun by finally recognizing in her the granddaughter she’d already failed to keep once. The show’s insistence that family is chosen, not just inherited, gets its clearest statement here.

The Real Has Come! (2023) — Ha-neul's adoption is finalized in the finale

It’s the throughline that holds this whole sprawling cast together, from Ms. Eun’s buried daughter to Joon-ha’s late-arriving decency: everyone in this family tree eventually has to decide whether blood or choice is what actually counts.

The KDW verdict on the ending The wedding at the end isn’t really the twist — the twist happened back in episode 34, when the lie collapsed and the family chose to stay together anyway. Everything after that, including the wedding, is just the show cashing out a theme it’s been building since the premiere: a contract can start a family, but only choice can keep one.

✍️ KDramaWorlds Editor’s Take

Our honest read on why this drama is worth your time — and who it’s for.

💍 Fake Marriage, Real Family
👶 Found Family
🏢 Chaebol Drama
❤️‍🩹 Multi-Generational Healing

Baek Jin-hee plays Yeon-doo’s arc from panicked single mother to someone who actually runs her own household with a steadiness that keeps the show’s more melodramatic swings grounded. Ahn Jae-hyun’s Tae-kyung works precisely because his affection sneaks up on him rather than announcing itself — couvade syndrome as a plot device sounds ridiculous on paper and plays disarmingly sincere on screen. Like Family by Choice, this is ultimately less a romance than an argument about who gets to count as family once blood stops being the deciding factor.

The Real Has Come! (2023) — cinematic still

Fifty episodes is a real commitment, and the back half is where the show earns or loses that investment depending on your patience for expanding subplots — Ms. Eun’s lost daughter, the Ji-myeong/Hyun-woo marriage, Soo-kyum’s hidden parentage all get folded in well after the central contract-marriage premise has already resolved. Compared to a tighter contract-romance like Love in Contract, this is a much bigger, messier canvas — closer to a family saga that happens to start with a fake marriage than a fake-marriage rom-com that happens to run long.

Se-jin and Joon-ha’s scheming plot is the weakest stretch, mostly because the show telegraphs their defeat so far in advance that the back-half machinations read as delay rather than tension. What keeps the back half worth sticking with anyway is Ms. Eun and In-ok — two older women whose slow, reluctant softening toward Yeon-doo carries more genuine surprise than anything the younger cast is doing by that point.

👍👍👍 BEST FOR 👍👍👍
💍 Fans of contract-marriage romances that keep going well past the wedding
👶 Anyone who wants a found-family drama with real generational depth
🏢 Viewers with patience for a full 50-episode KBS2 family melodrama

⚖️ Final Verdict
What works
Baek Jin-hee and Ahn Jae-hyun’s slow-build chemistry carries the entire first half
The found-family theme pays off across multiple generations, not just the central couple
Ms. Eun and In-ok’s late-series arcs are more affecting than the show’s marketing suggests

What to know first
The Se-jin/Jun-ha scheming plot drags once its outcome becomes obvious
Fifty episodes means real commitment — this is not a tightly-paced 16-episode watch
Several late-added subplots (Ms. Eun’s lost daughter, Soo-kyum’s parentage) compete for space after the main couple’s arc has already resolved

7.3 / 10— A sprawling, old-fashioned family melodrama that earns its length by consistently widening what counts as family instead of just stretching out one romance.
