Hidden Identity

Hong Keum-bo (Park Shin-hye) is a 35-year-old elite inspector at Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service — a certified public accountant who has built her career on investigating economic crimes. When her key informant inside Hanmin Investment & Securities dies in a suspicious car accident before he can hand over evidence of massive financial fraud, the investigation is left without a witness. With her superior’s unofficial backing and her own naturally youthful appearance, Keum-bo goes undercover — disguised as her 20-year-old sister Hong Jang-mi — and enters Hanmin’s 1997 new recruit cycle as a junior clerk.

Set against the backdrop of Korea’s IMF financial crisis, Keum-bo must track down a secret ledger, root out the whistleblower hiding inside the firm, and somehow avoid detection by Shin Jung-woo (Ko Kyung-pyo) — the newly appointed CEO who happens to be her ex-boyfriend. What follows is part financial thriller, part workplace farce, and entirely powered by one of the strongest female ensemble casts of 2026. It started slow and finished at 13% ratings — one of tvN’s biggest comebacks of the year.

📺 Episode Guide

Spoiler-light recaps — enough to remember where you left off, nothing that ruins the ride.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 1 — The Witch of Yeouido
EP 01
The Witch of Yeouido
January 17, 2026
Hong Keum-bo’s reputation at the FSS is as sharp as her suits — a relentless investigator feared by every securities firm in Yeouido. When her key informant inside Hanmin is killed before he can hand over anything useful, her career is left without a case. The episode sets up the stakes clearly: she has nothing to go in with except her face, her sister’s name, and a 1997 job application.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 2 — First Day, Wrong Decade
EP 02
First Day, Wrong Decade
January 18, 2026
Keum-bo walks into Hanmin as Hong Jang-mi, a fresh-faced 20-year-old — and immediately discovers that passing for a decade younger involves more physical comedy than she budgeted for. The dormitory introduction sets up the female ensemble that will carry the show, and Park Shin-hye’s physical commitment to the role is evident from the first overcorrected bow. Shin Jung-woo arrives at the end of the episode, and the complication begins.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 3 — In Plain Sight
EP 03
In Plain Sight
January 24, 2026
Jung-woo is suspicious from the start — a man who analyzes everything by numbers isn’t going to stop at a name change. Keum-bo’s undercover routine gets stress-tested as she simultaneously investigates a trading irregularity, navigates Bok-hee’s skepticism, and avoids her ex-boyfriend’s increasingly pointed questions. The tension between the comedy and the actual investigation clicks into place for the first time here.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 4 — Roommates With Secrets
EP 04
Roommates With Secrets
January 25, 2026
Keum-bo nearly gets fired after preventing a catastrophic order-processing error — the kind of competence a supposed high school grad shouldn’t have. The termination crisis is played for comedy but the stakes are real: lose the job and the investigation dies with it. Kang No-ra surfaces properly for the first time, and it becomes clear that nearly everyone in this dormitory is hiding something.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 5 — The Spy Hunt
EP 05
The Spy Hunt
January 31, 2026
Chairman Kang orders an internal audit after learning there may be a mole inside the firm — and Keum-bo suddenly finds herself hunting a whistleblower while also being the person most likely to be identified as one. The episode introduces Bang Jin-mok as a genuine wildcard: a veteran employee who doesn’t fit neatly into any faction and clearly knows more than he lets on.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 6 — Top Employee
EP 06
Top Employee
February 1, 2026
Keum-bo throws herself into Hanmin’s employee-of-the-month contest as cover for getting closer to the company’s internal data — and the show leans hard into the absurdity of a senior FSS inspector competing in a 1997 workplace talent show. The elevator scene with Jung-woo is the episode’s best: two people fully aware the other is dangerous, trapped between floors, performing ignorance.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 7 — What He Knows
EP 07
What He Knows
February 7, 2026
Keum-bo witnesses Albert Oh meeting a man she recognizes from her past — and the web of who’s connected to what begins to tighten. The episode shifts tone slightly: less farce, more genuine tension as the investigation starts to produce real leads. Jung-woo’s backstory with Keum-bo gets more depth, and Ko Kyung-pyo finally gets scenes that match his screen presence.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 8 — The Monster in the Ledger
EP 08
The Monster in the Ledger
February 8, 2026
The slush fund begins to take shape — and the scale of what Hanmin has been hiding is significantly larger than the initial investigation suggested. Bok-hee gets her best episode: Ha Yoon-kyung plays the tension between pragmatic self-interest and an emerging conscience with real precision. The midpoint of the series and the moment the roommate alliance quietly begins to form.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 9 — Two Letters
EP 09
Two Letters
February 14, 2026
A tragedy inside the dormitory group tests bonds that have been building quietly for eight episodes. The episode is the show’s emotional pivot — less funny, more real — and it handles the shift without losing the warmth that defines the series. What it does to Keum-bo’s priorities is more interesting than what it does to the plot.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 10 — Titans Collide
EP 10
Titans Collide
February 15, 2026
Hanmin’s internal power struggle between Chairman Kang, Managing Director Oh, and Jung-woo reaches a boiling point — and Keum-bo finds herself in the middle of a succession crisis she didn’t come to investigate. The corporate scheming is the most purely entertaining element of the second half, and No-ra’s emergence as a genuine player in her own right is quietly one of the show’s best character arcs.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 11 — The Masked Pirate
EP 11
The Masked Pirate
February 21, 2026
The identity of Yehppee — the mysterious internal figure who has been holding the key to the ledger — is finally confirmed, and the reveal recontextualizes several earlier episodes in ways that reward attention. The roommates are now operating less like coincidental housemates and more like a team that has talked itself into an actual plan.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 12 — Money Never Sleeps
EP 12
Money Never Sleeps
February 22, 2026
Everyone is scheming simultaneously — the pirates, the chairman, Managing Director Oh, and Jung-woo all moving pieces at the same time. The episode is the show’s most kinetic, cutting between schemes with a timing that mirrors the chaos of the 1997 IMF crisis it’s set against. Albert’s decision to act against his own father is the moment his character stops being comic relief entirely.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 13 — Witch Hunt
EP 13
Witch Hunt
February 28, 2026
The walls close in from every direction — the internal audit, Jung-woo’s growing certainty about Jang-mi’s real identity, and a company-wide witch hunt for whoever leaked to the press. No-ra’s growth hits its most satisfying beat here: a character who began as a timid heiress navigating survival and arrives at conviction. The show’s 13.1% nationwide ratings peak wasn’t an accident.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 14 — The Era of Great Pirates
EP 14
The Era of Great Pirates
March 1, 2026
Our crew of underdogs has backed Hanmin’s leadership into a corner — and the episode makes clear that winning will require everyone to play their part and accept the consequences. The Yeouido Pirates go all in. The SoBangCha trio — the veteran employees who know exactly where the bodies are buried — makes their choice. The alliance is bigger and stranger than Keum-bo planned for, and it works.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 15 — No Mercy
EP 15
No Mercy
March 7, 2026
The final blow lands — and it takes Keum-bo’s parents showing up to help tag-team the last of Hanmin’s hired muscle for the show to fully reveal what kind of drama it always was: a family comedy that also happens to take financial crime seriously. No Mercy is an almost absurdly satisfying penultimate episode. The Benny Hill chase involving Chairman Kang and No-ra is the funniest sequence in the series.

Undercover Miss Hong Episode 16 — We of the New Millennium
EP 16
We of the New Millennium
March 8, 2026
The finale gives every character exactly the ending they deserve — and takes its time doing it. Mi-sook studies for management exams. No-ra goes to France and comes back a pastry chef. Bok-hee serves her sentence and opens an undercover private investigation agency out of a hair salon, helping women reclaim hidden money. The dormitory gets demolished; the women sneak back in one last time. It’s the right note to end on. The dorm lives. The company falls. The women win.

Park Shin-hye has spent enough of her career in serious, grief-heavy roles — The Judge from Hell, Sisyphus, Pinocchio — that seeing her fully commit to physical comedy here feels almost revelatory. Undercover Miss Hong works first and foremost because she makes Hong Keum-bo both competent and hilarious in the same breath. The bit isn’t “elite professional embarrasses herself constantly.” It’s “elite professional makes split-second choices about how dumb to look and mostly gets it right” — and that’s a harder, smarter thing to play. She earns every comedic moment because Keum-bo is always three steps ahead of everyone else in the room, even when she’s pretending not to be.

Undercover Miss Hong (2026) — cinematic still

The Ko Kyung-pyo question is fair: his Jung-woo is noticeably underwritten in the first half, and viewers who came for the romance will feel the imbalance. The show is more interested in its women — Keum-bo, Bok-hee, No-ra, Mi-sook — than in any love story, and this is probably the right call. When Jung-woo does get space, Ko Kyung-pyo earns it, but the drama never fully commits to his character arc the way it commits to Bok-hee’s. Ha Yoon-kyung is quietly the show’s MVP — a performance that holds complexity in every scene and pays off completely in the finale.

The first episode is the hardest ask — slow setup, too much exposition, the comedy still finding its footing. Get through episode two and the dormitory world clicks into place. Episodes 13 and 15 are the best back-to-back pair of the year: sustained, funny, emotionally satisfying, and built on eight episodes of accumulated goodwill for characters who started as strangers. Director Park Seon-ho (who made Business Proposal) knows how to build ensemble warmth without sacrificing forward momentum, and it shows. A rare drama that gets better every single week.
